"I'm very glad this writing exercise is over. I love to write, but not about myself."

La Palin's book is finally here, and the L.A. Times has suitably tart things to say. If you ask me, the Sarah vs. Levi media smackdown makes for much more entertaining reading than the snippets of Going Rogue I've seen so far.

Sarah-fying

Ms. Palin's book is pre-selling faster than H1N1 vaccine inhalers. The title, Going Rogue, tells you pretty much all you need to know. The next time I quit an assignment halfway through just because I feel like it, I'm going to refer to it as "going rogue."

Palin's iPod

I'm pretty much done writing about Sarah Palin, but I felt the urge to post one of her last tweets as Alaska's governor, an abbreviated account of a recent road-trip soundtrack:
RdTrip7 hrs wKid Rock/Martina McBride/Big&Rich/Grtchn Wilson/Billy Currngtn/Hank/Toby/VanP/Blk I P's/Greenwd/Straight/etc&USO artists=heaven
Proof positive that one person's heaven is another's hell. Have fun in "retirement," Sarah.

Shatner reads Palin

Yes, I'm the last person on earth one to see this major water-cooler phenomenon. So sue me.

Palin's resignation speech: the "Vanity Fair" edit

Thanks to Kim for the tip. This brilliant concept, beautifully executed, really satisfies my inner (and outer) copyeditor.

Swine flu, schmine flu

Yes, the possible imminent pandemic is scary, but all is not lost. Sen. Arlen Specter provided some honest-to-God good news today, just to balance things out. Best of all, hearing about Specter offset the irritation I felt upon seeing a completely-not-kidding "Palin 2012" bumper sticker on the way home from work. (Confidential to the driver of that car: C'mon, have some taste. I'd even rather see "Jindal 2012.")

Thank heavens

Finally, in these times of untold woe and ruin, some honest-to-God good news. You did the right thing, kids.

Bristol speaks out

Still engaged to the highly questionable Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin's daughter -- now an 18-year-old mom -- is here to tell you that if you think your teen will make it through high school unsullied, well, you're dead wrong. Better ditch that stork story and bring out the actual truth before it's too late and you have an impromptu in-law. A related point: Bristol's labor must have been fairly painless, since
It was "harder than labor" telling her parents she was pregnant.
I saw Juno, so I know better. But it's a good line.

My new shopping article for NWsource.com

It's live!

Who knows how I missed this...

...but here it is now, better late than never:

Thanks to Jill for tipping me off. I'm really going to miss this year's election-themed comedy shenanigans.

Future imperfect

Just in time for tonight's final presidential debate, some wild wag has imagined a Palin White House -- and it doesn't look good. (Hint: It's interactive and requires sound.)

Jon Stewart, on the other hand, took a trip into the not-too-distant past to uncover the truth about McCain's recent stump speech, whose purpose was to "reboot" his flagging campaign. Nice try, Johnny Mac.

If campaigns were won on gall alone...

...Palin-McCain would roll to victory. Good heavens.
"I pray to God that people have enough time to let this register with them and start again, connecting the dots, and understand the contrast between the tickets," she said.
Yeah? Well, here are some dots, you fantastic hypocrite. As for your old man:
At an event Friday in Lakeville, Minnesota, McCain referred to Obama as a "decent person" and praised him as a "family man" after two voters expressed fear over Obama being elected.

But the Arizona senator was met by a sea of boos when asking the crowd to be more respectful toward Obama.

When the crowd began to boo, McCain told them "No, no. I want everyone to be respectful."
Grrr.
